In May 2013 I was awarded the Variety Angel Award for Outstanding Work In Philanthropy. I was so very proud to win this award. I gave a speech to the audience and everyone in the room listened and gave me a standing ovation afterwards.
In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st, 2015, I was named a
Super Six Hero by the Canadian Down Syndrome Society. I am sooooo proud.
I love having Down syndrome and I love that God made me with something extra special.
I have taken part in the Kids Coin Drive For Variety for the past 9 years, raising money in my community to help other kids with special needs in British Columbia. I have helped host 5 of my own Heroes With Hearts Variety Show Dinner and Dances in the past to raise money for Variety’s Kids. I also bag groceries at Quality Foods to raise donations throughout the year and hold bake sales and auctions as well.
I was named the 2012 Scotiabank National Game Changer at the 100th Grey Cup game in Toronto on November 25th. I won $100,000 for the charity of my choice and I donated it to Variety – The Children’s Charity.
I had so much fun being the BC Lions Game Changer Finalist. I cried happy tears when the judges called my name and said that I was the National Game Changer because it meant that I won $100,000 to help Variety’s Kids. Thank you to everyone on #GoTeamAngel for voting for me to win.
xoxo love Angel
